The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District has partnered with US Cellular and UniteGPS to provide a service for parents of all bus riders. UniteGPS is an app available to parents of G-E-T students to watch the location of a child’s bus in real time. We began this free service last spring and now regularly have many parents and day cares using the app.
We know that buses are sometimes running late for different reasons or that day cares are trying to anticipate arrival times as precisely as possible to meet children. This service helps school administrators, day care operators, and parents track bus progress.
This is what you can expect from this new service:
1. UniteGPS is available for any device using a web browser
2. It provides real-time GPS mapping for bus routes
3. You can see exactly where the bus is along the route
4. Data is updated every five seconds – so you will know the exact location of every stop and the time of arrivalIf you have not yet used the app and would like to start, but did not keep the information sent last spring or in August, you may get a new link using the lost password function at UniteGPS. There are tutorials available as well to assist. See https://crosswalk.unitegps.com/user/password
If you continue to need assistance, please call Shirley Gingrich at 608-582-4657.
We hope that this system benefits parents, but we also know that we will have some bumps along the way and hope parents will understand. It’s important to note that it will be inevitable that different buses (and therefore different GPS) units will sometimes be used for routes due to repairs and special hauls; therefore, we cannot guarantee that this program will always be available.
