Students Take Advantage of Summer School Opportunities

A generation ago, summer school usually meant only remedial classes for credit recovery.  While those classes still exist, over 700 students at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau in grades K-12 took part in summer classes including Discovery Science, Engineering with Contraptions, Spanish, LEGO Robotics, Babysitter Training, Math and Reading Strategies, Rocketry, Swim Lessons, and dozens more.

The majority of students take three one-hour sessions during the regular session that runs for three weeks in early August.  Dozens of middle and high school students also volunteer to assist with many of the elementary classes.

At the middle and high school level, our Speed and Strength class, which has sessions that run all summer, has continued to grow with lots of positive feedback.  Our Jumpstart to Kindergarten class for incoming kindergartners also has a very high percentage of students taking part and helping ease the transition to school.

Thank you to the photography class who shared some pictures of various classroom activities.
